To keep our communities safe, we’ve got to work with neighboring agencies, regional task forces, and state partners across North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee. That kind of teamwork doesn’t just happen. It takes time, trust, and the right kind of leadership.

Over the past few years, Sheriff Smith has built strong, working relationships with law enforcement across the tri-state area—sharing resources, coordinating operations, and teaming up to stop the flow of drugs before it ever reaches our roads and neighborhoods.

But it doesn’t stop there.

As your Sheriff, he's also formed connections with state agencies and lawmakers in Raleigh. He currently serves on the legislative, events, and training committees of the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association, giving Cherokee County a direct voice at the table where statewide public safety decisions get made.
